Crystal Clean’s history begins in 2011, when a young Nick Mars began working with his uncle and mentor, Aaron Mars, at Mars Metals Inc., which specialized in the safe handling, packaging and shipping of reactive metals. Nick’s job was to apply the then-new technology of dry ice blasting to remove residue and refractory coatings from molds and castings in the aerospace industry. From the start he was a superfan.
Nick’s expertise and passion for dry ice blasting grew over nearly a decade of service at MMI, when he decided to go out on his own to expand into other dry ice blasting applications. Since then, he and his teams have delivered superlative results to power companies, oil and gas companies, real estate management companies, and food processing facilities, to name a few. They revel in the fact that dry ice blasting is the cleanest, most effective, environmentally friendly way to remove surface coatings and residue without damaging the surface being cleaned. In a word, it’s amazing!
With the recent relaunch of his company as Crystal Clean Dry Ice Blasting, Nick is poised to bring his passion, pride and meticulous attention to detail to bear on new projects for his clients. “It never gets old” says Nick. “Every job is different and provides us an opportunity to show how effective dry ice blasting is in almost any application”, though he points out that none of this is guaranteed without the right operator. Like any technical skill, it requires expertise and concentration to adjust pressure, nozzles, and (dry ice) particulate size to match the objective for the job. “That’s the wizardry in what we do”, Nick emphasizes.
